ACTS at the National Gathering, Ingliston

ACTS had the pleasure of running a stall at the National Gathering, Ingliston, 3-4 May. This was the latest big event in the Church of Scotland’s Church Without Walls initiative. The invitation was extended to other churches and charities to come along and participate fully. It was an impressive occasion, especially for the innovative tented village and the quality of the big worship events.

Back to Church Sunday 28 September 2008

Back to Church Sunday is an initiative to rekindle church going among people who have given it up. Members of a congregation invite friends they haven’t seen in church for a while to come to a service with them on Back to Church Sunday. That day the church makes an effort to be especially “user friendly” to visitors. For information on Back to Church Sunday Scottish Network, and to download Power-point presentations from the Training and Information Day and an order form for resource packs click here. A National Conversation: Choosing Scotland's Future

Last autumn, the First Minister launched A National Conversation on Scotland's future. The Scottish Government are inviting the people of Scotland to take part and contribute to this initiative and give their view, whether Scotland should become independent. The Scottish Churches Parliamentary Office (SCPO) believes that the churches' voice should be heard in any national conversation on our national future. The SCPO produced some material to help congregations and church groups play their part in this conversation. To download this discussion material click here.

Please pray with us ...

Risen Christ,
as you journeyed with the two who travelled the Emmaus Road,
travel with us on our journey of faith.
In our encounters on the way
give us compassion to listen to the other’s story
give us patience to explain what may seem obvious to ourselves
give us courage to make ourselves vulnerable towards the other,
so that others may encounter You through us
and we may rediscover You through them.

Amen
