Church Life Network

Convener: Captain David Alton, Salvation Army.
Vice-Convener: vacant
Network Officer: Shona Paterson

ACTS Church Life Network comprises representatives from the member churches, two Associated Ecumenical Groups, Spirituality in Scotland (SinS) and Men & Spirituality and also from CTBI.

This network devotes a large part of their meeting on information sharing but their practical focus has been on the collection of material to produce an ecumenical calendar of commemorations of people well known and less well known who have contributed to Scottish church life.

Other areas of importance discussed include: the provision of ecumenical worship material, family life programmes, and private versus corporate worship.

Publications come under the remit of this network with ongoing work by the network officer on the production, promotion and distribution of worship material. Advent and Easter leaflets are produced, promoted and distributed ‘in-house’.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is promoted and distributed by the network officer, with two members of the network represented on the CTBI writers’ group. The ACTS newsletter Together is produced quarterly and sent to over 5,000 contacts.

Recent Developments (2008):
The Church Life Network have endorsed plans to organise a national day of prayer. A special Working Group has been set up to discuss ideas and take matters to the next stage. A Day conference to explore further ideas and access practical interest is to take place on 5th March 2008 at Holmehill Annexe, Scottish Churches House, Dunblane.
