Scottish Churches National Sponsoring Body for Local Ecumenical Partnerships launches regional bodies

During October and November 2005, new Regional Advisory Groups of the Sponsoring Body for Local Ecumenical Partnerships have been launched throughout Scotland.

It will be the task of the seven regional groups to provide support and advice for LEPs in their area. It is intended that the Regional Groups will participate in reviews of LEPs and be there to offer advice concerning issues as diverse as filling a clergy vacancy to reviewing a Constitution.

The following prayer has been used at each inaugural meeting of the Groups:

Loving and living God, we pray for the Churches represented here, for our common worship and mission and for the ecumenical process which we pray will draw us together in closer relationship.
Lord receive our prayer and make us one in your love.

Lord, we commit to you those activities which we undertake together. May we cross the barriers of division, learn to respect different insights and seek ways to work more closely together.
Lord receive our prayer and make us one in your love.

We commit to you our efforts and discussions for bringing together Christians of different traditions and for the oversight we have for Local Ecumenical Partnerships of various kinds. May we not be deterred by inflexible structures or discouraged by slow progress but strive to build up our unity in the Spirit, through the bond of peace.
Lord receive our prayer and make us one in your love. Unite us in heart and mind and give us the vision of your eternal kingdom through Christ our Lord. Amen.
